4. Educators value the involvement and support of parents, guardians, families and communities in schools.
Educators understand, respect and support the role of parents and the community in the education of students. Educators communicate effectively and in a timely manner with parents and consider their advice on matters pertaining to their children.
First Piece of Evidence
The first piece of evidence I chose to reflect the fourth teacher regulation branch standard is a letter home to parents. This is a letter I created using Microsoft word. To view see the letter download the file or see the embedded document below.

Reflection
This Microsoft document is evidence of how I met the BCTRB's fourth standard. In the making of this letter I have explored the importance of communication with parents and community. I learned there are many areas of information a teacher must communicate out to others; at a student level, classroom level, school level, and community level. This letter went home with the students in my year five practicum class. I sent this letter home with the students at the beginning of my final six week practicum. As a teacher it is important that I consistently communicated with colleagues my students and their parents.
Second Piece of Evidence
The second piece of evidence I chose to reflect the fourth teacher regulation branch standard is a calendar I created on Microsoft word. This calendar can be seen in the embedded document below. There is also a downloadable file available below.

Reflection
I chose this calendar to show how I meet the teacher regulation standard, educators value the involvement and support of parents, guardians, families and communities in schools. This calendar is a breakdown of the last three months of schools events and due dates. I created this calendar for my students and their parents in my year five practicum in a grade seven class. This calendar was to clarify expectations and open communication so the students have the support of everyone as they complete their final three months of elementary school.
