3. Educators understand and apply knowledge of student growth and development
Educators are knowledgeable about how children develop as learners and as social beings, and demonstrate an understanding of individual learning differences and special needs. This knowledge is used to assist educators in making decisions about curriculum, instruction, assessment and classroom management.
First Piece of Evidence
The first piece of evidence I chose to reflect the third teacher regulation branch standard is a concept map. This is a concept map I created using a c-map program.

Reflection
This concept map is an exploration on the BCTRB standard number three. This concept map looks at theories of cognitive domain and child development. I created this concept map during my child development course in my third year at Vancouver Island University. In the making of this concept map I structured my knowledge of these theories in a hierarchical graph. In this process I strengthened my understanding of development theories. As a teacher it is important I am aware of physical, mental and emotional development of my students so that I can teach to them effectively.
Second Piece of Evidence
The second piece of evidence I chose to reflect the third teacher regulation branch standard is a Prezi presentation. A Prezi is a collaborative online zooming presentation tool. Please press start Prezi to view the presentation, then press the arrows to progress through the Prezi.

Reflection
I chose this Prezi as my evidence for standard three, educators understand and apply knowledge of student growth and development. This Prezi was a presentation I created after working with a student on an adapted plan during my year five practicum. The student this presentation focuses on is a student with autism, During my practicum I worked to help this student develop organizational skills. As a new teacher I will use my knowledge of child and social development. I understand that students are individuals with their own social, emotional, and learning needs. I have and will continue to use this awareness to adapt and make decisions around curriculum, instruction, assessment and classroom management.
